Asphalt roads in Front of Home Can Cause Obesity

But avoid choosing asphalt to make its way into your house because of contaminants in the asphalt can make you obese.

Based on a new study published in the American Journal of Epidemiology, researchers found that pregnant women with high exposure to air pollutants called polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) from oil, diesel, coal and other fossil fuels are burned, more likely have children who are obese at age 7 years than women with lower exposures.

You will likely exposed to these chemicals from the street in front of your house and parking for certain types of asphalt sealant is used to make asphalt roads and parking lots. Scientists from the U.S. Geological Survey recently published a review of existing literature on human health and environmental impacts of PAH.

The study, published in January, yesterday found that children who live in apartments with a paved parking lot exposed to air pollution because the PAH 14.5 times more than children who live far from a paved parking lot as reported from Rodale, Friday ( 04/05/2012).

You can be exposed to PAH contaminants through the air while traveling. Another study from Austin, Texas browse the content of PAHs in dust from paved roads and find dust particles on the pavement not only wind but also to homes.

The problem is that there are no restrictions of use as material for asphalt sealant. Only 15 cities in Colombia and the state of Washington has imposed a ban on its use.

If you need to make improvements to the driveway with asphalt, choose a product that is labeled 'asphalt sealant' and do not use the 'coal tar' when shopping in a store building materials.

Better yet, replace your driveway with permeable pavement. Porous surfaces such as concrete and paving stones are more attractive than black asphalt. Asphalt does not act as a good filter and cause the rain water does not seep into the ground.
